FenCreators Residency: ‘The Everyday Beauty’
In 2024, I was commissioned by FenCreators Marketplace CPP, funded by ArtsCouncil England, to deliver a 10-week programme across two Fenland towns. Designed to combat loneliness and foster engagement with arts and culture, the programme focused on celebrating the overlooked and mundane aspects of daily life through process-driven creativity.
Mindful Embroidery – Exploring the meditative process of embroidery.
Found Poetry – Repurposing words from print media to craft new narratives. Borrowing from the methodology used to create No Shoes Inside.
Abstract Collage – Creating striking collages from varied newsprint materials.
Found Soundscape – Recording sounds and the associated feelings from a stimulus. No Shoes Inside also takes advantage of the most mundane sounds that contribute to ‘home’.
Stationary Stop-Motion – Crafting animated stories using office stationary and a smartphone.
A testimonial from a participant:
“Thank you for this course. I have enjoyed the sessions and look at everyday objectives in a new light. As I experience poor mental health, I found these sessions to be mindful and to help with my wellbeing. I will miss these sessions.” –
