Sean Dendere (b. 2001) is a living designer, artist and filmmaker from Peterborough, UK and Zimbabwe. Most recently, Sean Dendere concluded an Artist in Residence programme at Metal Culture.

Sean Dendere's creative practice is a journey of  exploration between memory, research and fantasy, anchored in storytelling. Ultimately, he refuses to be bound by a singular job title.

TALKS & WORKSHOPS
Commissioned by Arts Council for Creative People & Places in 2024. Sean Dendere delivered a workshop series titled ‘The Everyday Beauty’, focusing on mindfulness and finding beauty in the mundane. The workshops aimed to combat loneliness and increase engagement with arts and culture in underserved communities in England.

Premiered No Shoes Inside’ at Earth Hackney and participated in a panel conversation alongside the filmmakers Bafic & Penny Woolcock, moderated by Blu Smith for the Central Saint Martins Creative Unions Symposium in 2024.

Comissioned by Camden Spark in May 2024 to deliver a two-day design workshop to classes of year 3 students at a Camden Primary School. Took this opportunity  to teach students how to make a functioning and eductional pop-up volcano book.


EXHIBITIONS/COLLECTIONS

Participated in the "Once When We Were Kids" Exhibition in Hackney, produced and curated by Jessica Madavo and Sarah Dawes (Dawes Project). For this exhibition, showcased my painting titled "Death Sofabed".

‘RGB & Friends Zine’ – created by Sean Dendere, Eli Lawson-Adamah & Simon Munashe Dendere, was acquired by Photobook Cafe in 2019 as a permanent inclusion in their library.

Participated in the Youth WorldWide group exhibition at the Espacio Gallery in Bethnal Green. During this exhibition, presented a collection of fine art objects and prints.


AWARDS & GRANTS
Recipient of the prestigious 2023 Central Saint Martins' Museum Graduate Award: MWANA,  was acquired into the CSM Museum & Study Collection, an accredited museum.

        PCID Diploma in Professional Studies Bursary award at Central Saint Martins (2021)

Guest Co-Curator for the Central Saint Martins 2024 Graduate Museum Award (Specializing in 3D Design Practices) - Led the selection process focusing on 3D Design (Masters & Undergraduate).
